Access Bedford and the D/deaf community together can make a huge difference! Get involved – we need you to support us and the things we do.

GET INVOLVED!

We can help you get issues, opinions and ideas from the Deaf Community on new developments like Riverside North and services like the Hospital, Police and Social Care in Bedford Borough.

You can help us with our aims, coming to events and projects, letting people know about what we do and about new initiatives like the deafhelp emails (Police and Hosptial) and helping us by fundraising.

Volunteer for us.

Volunteers are a fundamental part of our team, there are no paid staff at Access Bedford – everything is done by fantastic and committed volunteers. We want our volunteers to feel valued, be well supported and have a positive experience. If you have a few hours you could spare each week, once a month or help at our events, we are always on the look out for more fabulous volunteers!

We are enthusiastic about attracting the right volunteers and are committed to providing them with enjoyable and meaningful roles. We have opportunities for social media experts, event’s organisers, interpreters, campaigners, BSL tutors, family/ community engagement volunteers. We also set up social events for all ages so that the community have regular opportunities to meet and relax and catch up on what’s going on. Support Us

Access Bedford is run by a group of volunteers – the 2023/24 Committee is made up of 3 Trustees and 7 Committee Members, supported by an Admin Officer, who coordinate a range of events and activities across Bedford Borough to improve access for the D/deaf community every day.
